Whilst I could make it sound like a smooth and zen-like transition from one to the other, I don’t think I’d fool anyone. Covid happened and I was unequivocally shoved off the edge without a whiff of ceremony or even a handshake. The rug of regular income was well and truly yanked from under my corporate backside, and I finally hit a now-or-never moment to step into an idea I’d had since graduation: What if I did this for myself? One year on and here we are. Was there anything you tried to steer clear of when setting up the new space? SR - We were really keen to avoid the corporate image of a lot of IT tech firms. We wanted to be the opposite of boring, corporate, or stuck in a seedy basement somewhere conforming to Technical Support stereotypes! I’ve worked in big corporates before in really uninspiring spaces with really traditional working practices. We wanted to be the exact opposite. BG - So can you put this space into words? Despite the hurdles, Cloud Nexus has grown almost exclusively on a remote working model. So why on earth would anyone need - or want - to move their staff to a central office format when business was already booming with a WFH team? The expense, the hassle, the commute? We asked all the questions when Scott commissioned Moxie Interior Design Co to design a new office space for a growing team. What did they want out of the space? "Symbolizing harmony and growth, along with royalty and refinement, emerald green is the perfect color to remind us to find balance this year". We've seen a lot of this green in recent years, particularly in Interiors. Clearly, it's a shade that's here to stay.
